Can I use COBRA if I retire from my job?

Answer: If the health plan you were on covered 20 or more employees and is still active then most likely you will qualify for COBRA coverage. Retirement is considered a qualifying event and therefore entitles you to COBRA. However, if you qualify for Medicare you likely will not be eligible for COBRA. Additionally your spouse and any dependents can also continue their insurance with COBRA when you retire.
