Can I use COBRA insurance if I am fired from my job?

Answer: It depends on why you were fired. If someone is fired due to gross misconduct then that makes them ineligible for COBRA. However in cases where you were fired but the reason is not as serious, you can still continue your insurance with COBRA. If you are unsure if your situation qualifies as gross misconduct then you should contact your employer. Additionally you can contact the Department of Labor if you believe you should be entitled to COBRA after being fired.
